League of Women Voters (LWV) and the National Education Association (NEA) announced a new partnership aimed at strengthening American democracy by recruiting a diverse new generation of poll workers for upcoming federal, state, and local elections.

By leveraging their expansive national networks, LWV and NEA will collaborate through a joint initiative by Power the Polls, a leading nonpartisan hub for poll worker recruitment. This partnership seeks to ensure that every community has the staffing necessary to keep polling places open, lines short, and the voting process accessible for all.

Constitution in 1787. Constitution Day, also known as Citizenship Day, is when we honor our democracy by celebrating our rights and responsibilities as citizens. It’s the perfect time to celebrate the right to vote, the very cornerstone of citizenship!

The first three words of the Preamble to the Constitution – “We the People” – affirm that our government is founded upon our input and opinions. Through voting, we have the chance to weigh in on the issues that are most important to us as well as how our nation is governed. That’s why it's critical that each of us registers to vote and goes to the polls – and that we encourage the people in our lives to do the same.

Every Hispanic Heritage Month, we celebrate music, food, and family. In our kitchens, classrooms, and neighborhoods, we are also building something bigger: a growing voice in American democracy. That voice travels to the polls. It travels on a ballot.

Imagine one ballot’s journey. It may belong to a grandmother who studied for citizenship at night and proudly cast her first vote. Or to a first-time voter who just turned 18 and carries their parents’ hopes into the voting booth. Maybe it belongs to a single parent juggling two jobs and still finding time to make a voting plan. A ballot is more than paper. It is a story of sacrifice, dreams, and daily life.
