Most people don’t notice barriers because they don’t have to.

What looks like “the easy way” to one person may be the only safe, accessible way for another.

That is the reality of disability.

Accessibility is not convenience.
It is dignity.
It is independence.
It is participation.

And when access is blocked, so is opportunity.

SAID is seeking a Treasurer (Volunteer Leadership Position)

As we continue building SAID (Systemic Access • Intelligence • Data), we are looking for someone passionate about accountability, transparency, and disability advocacy to serve as Treasurer.

Responsibilities may include:

• Assisting with financial oversight and reporting
• Helping establish financial policies and procedures
• Monitoring organizational income and expenses
• Supporting budgeting and financial planning
• Maintaining accurate financial records
• Assisting with nonprofit compliance requirements
• Providing financial updates to leadership and the board
• Helping ensure responsible stewardship of donations and grants

Ideal candidates may have experience in:
• Accounting or bookkeeping
• Finance, banking, or budgeting
• Nonprofit administration
• Business management
• Board leadership

Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who believes that accessibility is participation and wants to help build an organization focused on identifying accessibility patterns and driving systemic change.

This is currently a volunteer leadership role with the opportunity to help shape SAID’s future from the ground up.

Sometimes the greatest accessibility barriers aren’t caused by what is missing.

They’re caused by what cannot be relied upon.

A feature may exist.
A service may be available.
An accommodation may be offered.

Yet if it is inconsistent, unreliable, or unavailable when people need it most, participation is still affected.

This is one of the recurring patterns we continue to observe across multiple environments and systems.

Accessibility is not simply about whether something exists.

It’s about whether people can depend on it.

Because access that cannot be relied upon creates uncertainty, limits independence, and can ultimately restrict participation.

At SAID, we believe accessibility should be measured by participation—not compliance alone.
