Can you do better than "do no harm"? Mel Geoffrion of Green Bee Wholistic Home Services thinks so. 🐝

Her goal is to leave every space better than she found it. At their Catalina Foothills home, Mel and her husband, Damien, have turned ugly spaces into organic gardens full of native plants, fruits, vegetables, and wildlife. In 2020, she founded GreenBee to help others do the same.

We're glad to have GreenBee back as a Fall Fair sponsor, along with their upcycled owl nesting boxes. 🦉 Stop by their booth to talk rainwater, foraging, owls, and more!

From tennis courts to worm castings. 🎾
Michael Morse learned about soil while maintaining clay tennis courts in Tucson. Today he and his wife run Inch by Inch Worm Castings, a Tucson worm farm. Their worms eat local food waste from Barrio Brewing and Time Market, and nothing gets added to the finished castings.

We're glad to have Inch by Inch back as a Fall Fair sponsor! Stop by their booth to meet the worms. 🪱

Tony's Magic Mix started in a five-gallon bucket. 🪣
While managing a Tucson garden center, Tony Sarah spent two years testing fertilizer recipes and mixing each batch by hand. Local Facebook gardening groups named the result Tony's Magic Mix. Some still call it Magic Dust. The star ingredient? Bat guano. 🦇

Got too many cuttings on the windowsill? Our neighbors at Rincon Heights Neighborhood Association have the answer! Their 4th annual free plant and seed exchange is this Sunday, October 11, from 8 to 11 am at Rincon Heights Community Garden, 1047 E. 8th Street. 🌱

Bring your extra plants, seeds, cuttings, pots, and garden tools. Leave with something new. Native plants, cactus, succulents, house plants, and wildflower seed are all free for the taking. New this year: pots and potting mix, so you can start your cuttings right there.

While you're there, tour the Pollinator Equity Project nursery and swap growing tips with fellow plant nerds over coffee and snacks.

New to gardening in Tucson? You don't need anything to trade. Show up, pick out a few plants, and get your desert garden going.

Bring a box. You'll want one! 🌵 🌱🌻

Yesterday we kicked off the Community Gardens Of Tucson workshop series with an Organic gardening 101 demo at Chavarim Garden in mid-town Tucson. We had a great turnout of curious gardeners who all got their hands dirty while the butterflies danced around us on a cloudy morning.

We learned how to chose plants and seeds for fall and how to plot out and plan your garden on a grid. We also learned about compost and soil and how to prep the beds and maintain their health throughout the fall and wintet season!

Thank you Lou from community Gardens for helping Nicci to facilitate and doing so much work to prep for this workshop! Thank you Melody for making all of the informative and invaluble handouts for us. Also thanks to John for hosting us at Chavarim on such a beautiful September morning. This garden is so beautiful and luckily still has some plots availabletp rent!
