Healthy Babies born in RSV season are at risk to contract RSV. One vaccine will be given to healthy pregnant women in the 2nd or 3rd trimester of pregnancy. This will produce sufficient antibody titers to protect against RSV disease via trans-placental transfer to the fetus. This antibody would then help to protect infants early in life, when they are most at risk for severe RSV disease. In the United States, RSV is the leading cause of infant hospitalization, with more than 60,000 hospitalizations of children 12 months of age and younger annually. Maternal immunization to protect infants early in life offers a strategy for preventing this virus in infants. Call us at WOMB (520)881-9662 to see if you Qualify.

Giving expecting mothers an investigational vaccine
for respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is safe and could help
protect their babies from RSV after they are born.
RSV is known to cause common illnesses of the airways.
In fact, it is the most common cause of bronchiolitis
(inflammation of the small airways) and pneumonia
(infection of the lungs) in children under 12 months. www.womb.org
