Tonight, the Griffin Day Reporting Center invited our very own Jamie McLarty to share his powerful story of hope, recovery, and redemption with current participants.

What made this moment especially meaningful is that Jamie once sat in those same seats as a participant himself. Today, he returned as a testament to the power of perseverance, personal growth, and second chances.

Jamie now serves as a Forensic Peer Mentor with GMHCN, using his lived experience to support individuals involved in the criminal justice system as they navigate their own recovery and reentry journeys.

His story is a reminder that our circumstances do not have to determine our future. With commitment, support, and a willingness to change, transformation is possible.

Thank you to the Griffin Day Reporting Center for creating opportunities like this, and thank you, Jamie, for courageously sharing your journey and inspiring others to believe that a better future is within reach.

Recovery is real. Hope is alive. Change is possible.

Peer Support in Action 💙

When people think about peer support, they often picture a conversation across a desk or a meeting in an office. But sometimes, peer support looks like lifting furniture, carrying boxes, coordinating volunteers, and helping someone take one of the biggest steps in their recovery journey.

This week, we want to recognize Forensic Peer Mentor Lori Blanchard, who brought together a group of dedicated volunteers to help a peer move into their very first apartment of their own.

Recovery is about more than treatment—it’s about rebuilding a life, creating stability, and having a community that believes in you. Having a safe place to call home can be a life-changing milestone, and Lori understood that this transition deserved more than encouragement. It deserved action.
Because of the kindness, teamwork, and dedication shown by Lori and these volunteers, one individual was able to start a new chapter with support, dignity, and hope.

This is what peer support looks like.
✅ Showing up
✅ Building community
✅ Walking alongside people in recovery
✅ Turning hope into action

Thank you, Lori, for demonstrating the heart of peer support and reminding us that recovery happens not only through words, but through acts of service and connection.

Yesterday, Robert Pugh had the honor of sharing not only his lived experience but also a message of hope, accountability, and preparation with peers at the Coweta County Jail.

One of the most important messages shared was that reentry doesn’t start on the day of release—it starts long before the gate opens. Participants were challenged to begin thinking about their future now and to consider the steps they can take while incarcerated to prepare for success upon their return to the community. Whether it’s setting goals, working on personal growth, strengthening relationships, or developing a plan for recovery and stability, the work of reentry begins today.

It was a powerful moment filled with honest conversation, reflection, and the belief that every person has the ability to create positive change in their life.

Thank you to Coweta FORCE for extending this opportunity, and thank you to the Coweta County Sheriff’s Department for welcoming us and supporting efforts that encourage hope, growth, and successful reentry.

“Your past may explain where you’ve been, but it does not determine where you’re going. The choices you make today can change the course of your tomorrow.” — Robert Pugh

✨WAVES Workforce Spotlight✨

As we count down to WAVES 2026, we’re excited to introduce this week’s Workforce Spotlight, Tabatha Moss, Certified Peer Specialist-Mental Health (CPS-MH) and Forensic Peer Mentor (FPM) with the Muscogee County Accountability Court.

For the past six years, Tabatha has supported participants in Mental Health Court, Adult Drug Court, and Veterans Treatment Court, helping individuals navigate recovery and build brighter futures. With 13 years in recovery herself, she understands firsthand the power of hope, healing, and personal transformation.

“Recovery gave me my life back, and today it allows me to help others find hope when they may not be able to see it for themselves.”

When asked why she’s attending WAVES 2026, Tabatha shared that she is looking forward to learning, growing, and connecting with fellow Certified Peer Specialists and recovery professionals from across Georgia. She believes that staying informed about new resources, approaches, and best practices helps her better serve the individuals she supports every day.

She’s especially excited about the opportunity to hear others’ experiences, build meaningful relationships, and connect with people who share the same passion for helping others.

Her message to the workforce is simple but powerful:

“Never underestimate the impact of showing up for someone with compassion, understanding, and hope.”

Thank you, Tabatha, for being a voice empowering support and for the difference you make in the lives of others every day.
