We are thrilled to announce "100 Years of Dude Ranching: Celebrating the Centennial of the Dude Ranchers' Association" has received a 2026 Will Rogers Medallion Award for Western Photographic Essay.

The book features photography by Scott T. Baxter and a history of the DRA and dude ranching by Lynn Downey. The Will Rogers Medallion Awards honor creative works focused on the American West, its cultural heritage and storytelling traditions—we're honored to be among the 2026 winners!

We had a wonderful time at the Grand Opening of “The Wrangle” and the celebrations of the Dude Ranchers’ Association’s centennial!

This photography exhibit by Scott T. Baxter (), will continue to be in display at the Dude Ranch Museum in downtown Cody, Wyoming through September 27. “The Wrangle,” features a selection of images that capture the landscapes and people of historic dude ranches that have existed for a century or longer.

Join us for a “100 Years of Dude Ranching” book signing at Legends Bookstore () on Sheridan Ave. from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Thursday, June 4!

Copies of the coffee table book will be available for purchase, with meet and greet and book signings by photographer Scott T. Baxter (). 

In celebration of the centennial of the Dude Ranchers’ Association, “100 Years of Dude Ranching” explores modern and historic dude ranching at 26 ranches that were at the forefront of the industry, hosting dudes and giving them a taste of the West by 1926.

With photographs by award-winning photographer Scott T. Baxter, this book explores modern dude ranching at these historic ranches as captured over the course of a year; paired with historic information to see how each ranch has changed over a century. A history of the DRA and dude ranching written by historian Lynn Downey chronicles the story of dude ranches — the West’s first destination vacation.

For 100 years, dude ranches have offered an enduring vision of the American West — places where families gather, traditions are preserved, and the rhythms of horseback travel and open country still matter.

In our June/July issue, we mark the centennial of The Dude Ranchers' Association with an in-depth look at the history, culture, and continued appeal of these singular Western institutions, alongside Call of the West, a visually stunning documentary filmed across seven iconic ranches.
