In the wake of the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, we are proud to see the Oregon Alliance of Independent Colleges & Universities member colleges and universities come together in support of those impacted.

Lewis & Clark College, University of Portland, and Reed College are offering critical assistance to students from Southern California. From crisis counseling to emergency financial aid, these colleges are demonstrating their unwavering commitment to their students' well-being.

Messages of support have been sent to students with home addresses in Southern California, reinforcing a sense of community and care during this incredibly challenging time.

Together, we stand strong. 💙

Michelle Johnston Holthaus '95 on Monday was named Interim Co-CEO of Intel, the biggest computer chip maker in the world and Oregon's largest private employer. Holthaus was also named permanent CEO of Intel’s chip-design division, which stock analysts said could be a prelude to splitting the company's design and manufacturing businesses into separate entities. She majored in finance while at Linfield.

The total Fall enrollment across our 11 member institutions remained relatively stable for the 2024-25 academic year. Despite a 1% decrease in total headcount compared to Fall 2023, the combined enrollment of 23,079 students highlights the resilience and adaptability of Oregon’s independent, nonprofit higher education sector, even in the face of significant challenges stemming from the troubled rollout of this year’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

“We are proud of our member institutions’ ability to provide strong academic programs and exceptional student support, especially for Pell-eligible and first-generation students,” said Brent Wilder, President of the Oregon Alliance of Independent Colleges & Universities. “We remain focused on advancing our collective mission to prioritize the student experience, focusing on accessibility, affordability, and graduation outcomes as the sector adapts to an evolving higher education landscape.”
