5.2.23 PUBLIC NOTICE UPDATES FROM THE NAVAJO NATION EMERGENCY OPERATION CENTER (EOC) FOR THOSE IMPACTED BY THE FLOODING IN CHINLE, AZ.
--The Emergency Operation Center will be open on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 to Friday, May 5, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Navajo Nation Emergency Operation Call Center (928) 383-7121.
--The American Red Cross shelter IS CLOSED. However, the American Red Cross will continue feeding affected families of the Chinle flooding until Friday, May 5, 2023. The last meal that will served will be lunch at 11:00 a.m.
--If any assistance is needed from the American Red Cross, please contact the Navajo Nation Emergency Operation Call Center (928) 383-7121.
—The Chinle Chapter House is starting to clean the impacted flood areas. They will be cutting up the trees, picking up debris, and cleaning up washed out roads reported to Chinle Chapter House. They are also still conducting home assessments. For more information, call Chinle Chapter House at (928) 674-2052.

--On Thursday, April 27, 2023, there was a Flood Warning issued for Chinle, Arizona, by the National Weather Service, Flagstaff, Arizona. As of Tuesday, May 2, 2023, the Flood Warning is downgraded to a Flood Advisory.
--The Apache County Roads Department is aware of the road wash out on County Road 566, in Many Farms, Arizona. The Apache County Road crew is on site. The community is urged to use caution in the area. For more additional information or questions, please call Apache County District 1 at (928) 674-5664.
--TOURISTS : If you are traveling within the Canyon De Chelly Visitors Center, this is within a flood zone and please be aware of the recent flooding in the area. The Canyon De Chelly Monument is temporarily CLOSED, until the Navajo Nation of State of Emergency is lifted.

--PARENTS: KEEP YOUR CHILDREN AWAY FROM FLOODED AREAS. DO NOT ALLOW YOUR CHILDREN TO PLAY IN THE FLOODED WATERS. There is tree debris, fencing debris, and trash in the water. Also, there is deep sink holes and the water is unsafe due to water flooding into outhouses and sewage drainages.
--It has been advised for residences to stay away from nearby power lines. The EOC recommends if residents see a down power line or power pole, please contact NTUA 1(800) 528-5011 or the Navajo Nation Emergency Operation Call Center (928) 383-7121.
--For those living in their residences in flooded areas, please try airing out your home by opening your windows to prevent mold.
