When Friends of Pinchgut Creek decided to become an official 501c3, Alabama Rivers Alliance supported us in doing so. The greatest support came from the constant encouragement and cheer leading from Martha Hunter. She is an incredible human that is inspirational and just pretty much the funnest and coolest lady in the world. We are so happy for her to be celebrating her retirement. But I’m pretty sure she is still going to be working to make the world a better place even after being “retired”.

Last night the City of Trussville had a kick off meeting for a new comprehensive development plan. There was a mapping workshop with small groups sharing ideas and then presenting the things that their group think are the most important things to consider in our city. Almost every table had the Cahaba River and conserving our natural areas as top priorities! I was late getting to a table, because I was running my mouth. The group I joined had already written “Cahaba Headwaters Park” on the map. Yes!! I love it that so many of our amazing Trussvillagers recognize the importance of our watershed. There will be several more meetings in this process. I hope that all of our friends will take every opportunity to be a voice for our river and all the little creeks in our area.
