Today we pause to recognize the dedication, sacrifice, and resilience of law enforcement across the nation. National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day is a moment to see the work you do, day in and day out, and to say thank you.

No one should have to witness this kind of horror. Today’s events in Utah are sickening, and our hearts go out to Charlie Kirk, his family, and the students who were there. Thank you to the first responders who acted with courage and professionalism.

Police Officer Didarul Islam represents the very best of our department.

He was protecting New Yorkers from danger when his life was tragically cut short today.

We join in prayer during this time of incomprehensible pain. We will forever honor his legacy.

Trumbull, CT - On 3/13/25, Lieutenant Brian Weir graduated as a member of the 293rd session of the FBI National Academy. The graduation took place at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia, on March 13th, 2025. Lieutenant Weir is the fifth officer in department history to complete this prestigious program and is currently the only active union member to hold this distinction. Nationally, fewer than one percent of officers have the opportunity to attend the program.

Internationally known for its academic excellence, the National Academy offers 10 weeks of advanced communication, leadership, and fitness training. Participants must have proven records as professionals within their agencies to attend. On average, these officers have 21 years of law enforcement experience and usually return to their agencies to serve in executive-level positions.

The 293rd session consisted of two-hundred and forty-four law enforcement officers who graduated 3/13/25. The 293rd session of the National Academy consisted of men and women from 48 states and the District of Columbia. The class included members of law enforcement agencies from 24 countries, 11 military organizations, and four federal civilian organizations.

Please join us in congratulating Lieutenant Weir on this impressive accomplishment!

The Trumbull Police Union stands in support of the Wilton Police Union as they fight for a fair contract.

Recruitment of qualified candidates, officer retention, and officer well-being both physically and mentally are critical to maintaining public safety. It is our opinion that every town should recognize the importance of this. There should never be a set price tag on public safety. With the abundance of new legislation in this state, specifically targeting police officers, it has significantly reduced the interest in law enforcement. This has made it extremely difficult to attract and hire officers. Retirement rate has also increased based off the new challenges officers face today. Towns and Cities are already at critical staffing levels for police and must acknowledge this. It is their responsibility to make their collective bargaining agreements as appealing as possible.

The Trumbull Police Union is preparing to enter our own contract negotiations with the Town of Trumbull beginning this summer and we remain hopeful that they will engage in a fair and respectful process. Unfortunately it seems Wilton has not done this as their union enters arbitration with the town. Wilton has chosen financial interests over public safety interests and that is greatly concerning. Wilton Police Union we have your back.

Wilton Police Union announces contract negotiations with town have broken down, moving to arbitration due to benefits and working conditions issues.

Members of the Community,

Trumbull Pizza Company David Jakaj has been diagnosed with stage 3 cancer. As many of us are often visitors of their establishment, we know what kind of person David is, one who always puts others first. David’s family created a GoFundMe account to cover medical expenses, treatments, daily living costs, and any unforeseen challenges. Members of the Trumbull Police Union have been making donations, and kindly ask any members of the public to please make a donation if you can. The GoFundMe link is listed below. Thank you.
