The struggle and fight for life by someone afflicted by cancer can be indirectly paralleled to the fight r
endered by our military personnel who have surrendered their lives for our freedom. We believe those who have suffered from cancer along with those who have given up their lives for our freedom should always be loved and remembered and should continue to be an inspiration to us all. Because of these beliefs and as a dedication to cancer victims, POW’s and MIA’s Trucksville PA resident’s Elijah Miller along with Larry and Jake Koretz will be completing a 54 mile Strong Run and a 5400 jump shot challenge respectively. You see several years ago fellow Trucksville native Matthew Rondina passed away from brain cancer; Matthews' football number was 54. In August of 1968 another Trucksville resident, Colonel Robert Norman Smith was shot down in Vietnam and is still listed as MIA. For the past several years the third Friday of September, this year it’s Friday 9/20, is Proclaimed National POW/MIA Recognition Day. We humbly ask that you come out to support two great causes and join us as we honor and adorn the lives we miss. We will be raising awareness and funds for the Matthew Benjamin Rondina Memorial Sports Field & the Trucksville POW/MIA Memorial Remembrance Tower. All proceeds from this event will go toward the Matthew Benjamin Rondina Memorial Sports Field & the POW/MIA Memorial, both to be constructed, erected and displayed on the property of the Rock Recreational Center Trucksville PA.
