Little Bird Music students spread the joy of music to the senior community at Tahoe Forest Hospital Extended Care Facility. As part of the Sounds of Music program hosted by MusicWings the students had the chance to perform and fill the room with the kind of joy that only live music can bring. These moments are always deeply moving, and a beautiful reminder of music's power in a therapeutic setting.

A huge thank you to the AAUW (American Association of University Women) for inviting Alice Cotter to share a little of her journey through music—and to reflect on the extraordinary women who have made room for others along the way. 💛🎶

From composers and performers to teachers, mentors, mothers, colleagues, and community builders, the story of women in music is also a story of women making room: opening doors, creating opportunities, and reminding us that there is space at the table—and on the stage—for all of us.

Special thanks to Kelly Conley of The Steel Sparrows for performing an original song, “Hot Mess Mamas,” for the group!

Thank you, AAUW, for creating spaces where women can gather, connect, share stories, and inspire one another. We were reminded once again of the power of women making room for women. ❤️

What an evening! The Steinholding Competition at Alibi brought Bavarian fun and festivities to Truckee!

The talented Little Bird students welcomed the crowd with music before the competition. Then the evening heated up with 4 rounds of Steinholding, with a men's and women's champion crowned in the final round. The Steel Sparrows kept the Bavarian vibe going with more music into the night!

Thank you to everyone who came out, competed, performed, and volunteered to make this MusicWings fundraiser a success!

A huge thank you to Trio Bohémo for an illuminating and inspiring seminar on Music and Meaning!

They shared such beautiful thoughts about looking beyond the notes on the page and searching for the deeper meaning within the music.

One idea that especially stayed with us: “Put a color on the phrase. Play the phrase in 10 different colors.” What happens when we stop simply playing the notes and begin imagining, feeling, and communicating?

We talked about opening the heart — and how, sometimes, a great teacher or mentor can help us discover something inside ourselves that changes the way we make music forever.

Thank you, Trio Bohémo, for opening our ears, our imaginations, and our hearts. What a gift to our community! 💛

A special thank you to Tahoe Music Alive for collaborating on the Why Music Matters/Musical Dialogues event!
