We believe in Trails for All, and this volunteer event is all about helping maintain the beautiful trail systems that connect and support our community.

Let’s dig in and help create inclusive, sustainable trails that reflect the spirit of Pride and the beauty of Truckee! All ages welcome.

Please sign up with the link below, so we have a head count for tools. (The first 20 people to sign up will receive a Pride Truckee Trails bandana!) Meeting area and more details on the signup sheet.

Spring has sprung? ❄️

Dashing through the snow, the crew cleared a huge tree off OTB yesterday! It’s not very often the cutting opportunity presents itself to clear the trail. They had a lot of fun with this scenario.🌲

Nature’s pretty neat! OTB is clear. 🚵

Maggie says, “Bear Creek Trail is in great shape! Lots of wildflowers and budding trees.” ♥️

Thanks to our Bear Creek Trail Adopter George Sauter (and Maggie) for the report!

George has been one of our Trail Adopters for many years now. Thanks to his general maintenance including loose rocks removal, trimming vegetation, drainage clearing, raking, small downed tree removal, trash pickup, providing GPS location of large downed trees, and reporting any hazards, saves the trail crew major time and work. 🪏

If you’re interested in our Adopt a Trail program, or would like to donate and Sponsor a Trail, please reach out to [email protected] for available trails. 🌲

The Pines to Mines Trail is a 75-to-85-mile-long trail route that, once completed, will connect Truckee with Nevada City. This backcountry route will offer an immersive experience for hikers, runners, equestrians, and mountain bikers. 🌲

Your support will help us build the critical 22-mile “Summit Link” - the stretch of new trail that will connect Hole in the Ground to the Spaulding Lake Trail. ⚒️

There are 8 sections of the “Summit Link” that need your support to be constructed. The Truckee Trails Foundation completed Section 3 last year, and we still have a way to go. You can help us raise the $715,000 in private funding still needed to finish building the Pines to Mines Trail route. ⛰️

Trail-based recreation is at the heart of our local lifestyle - and it drives tourism and small business throughout the region. With your gift, you can help finish what will become one of California’s most iconic long-distance trails — a legacy that connects communities, supports outdoor recreation, and protects Sierra Nevada landscapes. ♥️

Please make a donation to help build the “Summit Link” at pinestomines.com today!

All funds raised by TTF and its P2M Partners will be directed to Truckee Trails Foundation, the lead on P2M trail construction.

We’re pleased to announce the 06 gate (Sawtooth) is now open for the season! 🚵‍♂️🌲🥾

All Sawtooth trails are clear and riding great! (with the exception of Big Chief) The recent rain helped with trail conditions too. 🎉

A few PSA’s:

• Keep singletrack single; if you come across puddles ride through them and not around them. This minimizes resource damage and helps to keep the trails from getting wider. 💧

• Pack it in, pack it out. Leave the trail as you found it by throwing away any trash or dog p**p bags. 🐕

• Respect other trail users - yield right-of-way to those passing or going uphill. ⚠️

• Be mindful of the neighborhood and watch your speed when arriving and leaving the trailhead. 🚙

If you see any downed trees or obstacles, please report them to [email protected].

Happy Trails, everyone! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃

Life of the Trail Crew - Truckee Trails Foundation (TTF) is the lead trail crew on the “Summit Link” section of the Pines to Mines Trail project.

Attention to detail, precise route flagging, proper equipment training, enduring the elements, and hard work are some of the main tasks of our trail crew. TTF completed 3 miles on Section 3 of the “Summit Link” last summer. Find out which sections we'll be working on next, and learn more about the route on May 6th!

In the meantime, enjoy some quick captures of the trail tools we use.

🌲Early season updates🌲

Spring came sooner than we expected! Tomorrow our trail crew will be starting their 2026 season. 🪓

If you’re wondering about snow levels, we scouted a bunch of trails in the Sawtooth zone. Everything except Big Chief and above is snow free. There are some pretty big downed trees, puddles, snow patches, and branches to look out for. 🚵‍♂️

Our crew will be at Sawtooth tomorrow addressing these hazards. Say hi if you see them out and about! 👋

Right now the 06 Gate is closed. The scheduled opening date is 4/24. We will keep you posted as we hear more from USFS. In the meantime, please be respectful when parking in the adjacent neighborhood.

As higher elevation trails begin to melt out, if you see a downed tree or other maintenance concerns, please take a photo and gps point and email [email protected] 📸

See you out there, and happy trails! 🐾

🌲 Connect the Sierra - A sneak peek of the beautiful aerial footage along the “Summit Link” segment of the Pines to Mines Trail route. 🌲

The Pines to Mines Trail is a transformative opportunity to protect natural landscapes while expanding access to outdoor adventure in the northern Sierra. Connecting Truckee and Nevada City, the trail will unite Nevada County’s two largest communities through a shared love of the outdoors - but only once the “Summit Link” is built.

The Pines to Mines Alliance has been hard at work. Stay tuned over the next couple months as we share updates on the scope of work and how you can help fund - and build - this project. For information about Pines to Mines, please visit pinestomines.com
