More wheel time, more creativity, more opportunities for students to bring their ideas to life! When students asked for more pottery wheels, their teacher listened, and we were able to step in to help.

Thanks to funding from Excellence in Education, Truckee High School's ceramics program received two new pottery wheels, helping meet growing student demand and giving more students daily access to wheel-throwing. Take a swing at Tahoe City Golf, a Golfing for Schools partner! Tahoe City Golf Course is a family-friendly, 2,700-yard, 9-hole, par 33 golf course. Golfers of all skill levels enjoy the greens and amenities that include a full service restaurant and bar, netted practice/warm up facility, golf carts, rentals, lessons, tournaments, and special events. 🏌🏼‍♀️

We are so grateful to Ponderosa Golf Course for being the newest course donating rounds for our Golfing for Schools fundraiser! Spanning 3,022 yards from the longest tees with a par of 35, Ponderosa offers three sets of tee boxes for a round that’s equal parts approachable and challenging. Along with chipping and practice greens, driving nets, a pro shop, snack bar, and sweeping views, it’s a classic Truckee golf experience. 🏌🏼‍♀️

Tucked beneath the shadow of Mt. Rose, Gray’s Crossing Golf Course is a Peter Jacobsen designed mountain golf experience that feels both peaceful and unforgettable.

We are incredibly grateful for Tahoe Mountain Club's Gray's Crossing Golf Course, and their 16-year partnership in our Golfing for Schools program which raises over $140,000 each year for local classrooms. Access great rates on tee times after 3:00 p.m. most days and be sure to check out their onsite restaurant, PJ's at Gray’s Crossing, with spectacular views and some of the best outdoor dining in town!

As a strong believer in the power of education and community involvement, Christine is passionate about supporting students, teachers, and schools in creating opportunities for every child to thrive. Since becoming involved with the Excellence in Education Foundation in 2022, she has proudly contributed through board service as site liaison for Kings Beach Elementary, a member of the Grant Allocation Committee, and, most recently, Chair of the Linda Brown Fellows and Star Awards Committee.

Through her background in environmental research and higher education, Christine brings valuable experience in collaboration, advocacy, and community engagement to support educational outcomes and student experiences.

Christine is actively engaged in the Parent Superintendent Advisory Committee, the Measure AA Oversight Committee, and the Parent Teacher Organization, always working to ensure students have access to enriching and inspiring experiences both inside and outside the classroom. Her two children attend Kings Beach Elementary.

“Every student and educator deserves the opportunity to feel inspired, supported, empowered, and connected during their school years. Being part of this community allows me to help create equitable opportunities for all students and staff across TTUSD. I’m proud to help build a community where all kids can grow, succeed, and find their own path forward.”

This May marks the 77th annual Mental Health Awareness Month, focusing on reducing stigma, fostering community, and improving access to care. An Excellence in Education grant provided funding for safe and welcoming spaces at TTUSD. We are proud to be able to support Wellness Programs where students can step away from the pressures of academics, sports, and social life to find support, connection, and care.

One student said, "I like the Wellness Center because I have anxiety in my tummy, and going to the Wellness Center every day helps my tummy a lot."
