Despite significant pay advantages available and an aptitude for STEM fields, just 20% of young women age 15-16 say they have a positive perception of jobs in STEM. Green Gyrl Project aims to change their minds and show them the vast array of careers that could be in their future! We're planning to start doing interview with some of the most dynamic women we know in STEM careers but if you know anyone you'd like to nominate, please send them our way!

In their grade school years girls voice a genuine interest in just like boys. But by the time they hit high school their interest has dropped significantly. Why? Because the bias in schools is still that boys are more suited for . Green Gyrl Project is going to do its part to change those perceptions and expose girls to the variety of careers that could be theirs for the taking! And by providing some hands-on experience, we hope to re-ignite their passion for STEM!

The Green Gyrl* Project has officially launched in the Truckee area of Lake Tahoe, CA! Our mission is to show high-school aged gyrls that they can achieve more than they ever thought possible. By focusing on the intersection of STEM and the Environment, we will help them (re)discover their passion for these subject areas, encouraging the gyrls to pursue them after high school. The gyrls will pitch project ideas, then get partnered up with a local environmental group to develop and execute her own hands-on project, supported by funding from Green Gyrl Project.
