The Truckee/Tahoe community has experienced several heartbreaking events in a short period of time. When tragedies happen — whether violence, accidents, or sudden loss — it is normal to feel shaken, overwhelmed, numb, anxious, or deeply sad. Trauma and grief affect everyone differently, and there is no “right way” to respond.
You do not have to carry this alone. Talking with someone, connecting with others, and accessing support can help your nervous system and heart begin to heal. Reaching out is a sign of strength, not weakness.
If you or someone you love needs support, please join our community partners as we come together to offer several opportunities for connection and grief support, including:
- TONIGHT - Town of Truckee Community Vigil at the Eagle Statue in Downtown Truckee, Sunday February 22, 6:00 pm
- Drop-in support hours at Church of the Mountains daily, Monday, February 23 to Friday, February 27, 12:00-2:00 pm
- Interfaith service at Church of the Mountains, Monday, February 23, 5:30 pm
