Slow Food Lake Tahoe

Slow Food Lake Tahoe Slow Food Lake Tahoe's mission is to connect our community to the enjoyment of good, clean and fair food by inspiring a self reliant food culture.

Slow Food Lake Tahoe serves the Lake Tahoe & Truckee communities. Slow food is good, clean and fair food. By this we mean that the food we eat should taste good, it should be produced in a clean way that does not harm the environment, animal welfare or our health and that food producers should receive fair compensation for their work. Our mission is to reconnect people to the enjoyment of this typ

e of food, as well as clean and fair goods, and especially to educate the community about their role as co-producers. GOOD, CLEAN, FAIR

Good: The word good can mean a lot of things to a lot of people. For Slow Food, the idea of good means enjoying delicious food created with care from healthy plants and animals. The pleasures of good food can also help to build community and celebrate culture and regional diversity. Clean: When we talk about clean food, we are talking about nutritious food that is as good for the planet as it is for our bodies. It is grown and harvested with methods that have a positive impact on our local ecosystems and promote biodiversity. Fair: We believe that food is a universal right. Food that is fair should be accessible to all, regardless of income and produced by people who are treated with dignity and justly compensated for their labor.

Our compost collection gate is officially OPEN for the season ♻️

In partnership with Keep Truckee Green, we’re turning your food scraps into garden fertilizer gold. Drop off your scraps anytime at our collection gate, or swing by the Truckee Farmers Market on Tuesdays and we’ll take them off your hands.

For the second summer in the row, we’re giving finished compost back to the community – so the more scraps we get the more finished compost we can give to YOU!

Let’s keep it green, Truckee 💚

2025 marked our very first growing season with solar panels in the Food Bank/Community Garden—made possible by a generous grant from the Truckee Tahoe Airport District ☀️🌱

Solar power now helps us grow starts right in our own backyard and makes it possible to host even more events in our community garden.

We’re incredibly grateful for the support that brought this project to life. Huge thanks to TTAD for investing in our garden, our community, and a more sustainable future.
