Who we serve:

We're an inclusive, non-denominational extension of the Detroit Jewish community, and we welcome volunteers of every background.

We serve people of all faiths and all walks of life. Because this was never just about food. It's about connection, dignity, and reminding every single person that they are seen and supported.

120+ homemade meals prepared per session 5,000+ fresh meals delivered to families in need. 30 volunteers per cooking session. Goal: 10,000 meals prepped and served by December 2026

Not your typical volunteer gig!

No boring assembly lines. No standing in a food-drive line handing out cans.

Every OGK session is hands-on and interactive, think globally-inspired menus, guest chefs, and a room full of people who came to cook, laugh, and give back together. Roll up your sleeves. Make new friends. Feel good about it.

What We're Building:

Our Giving Kitchen will be a commercial kitchen and community hub in Metro Detroit, a place where volunteers, students, corporate teams, and neighbors of every background come together to cook fresh meals and deliver them the same day to families who need them.

Wholesome, homemade food, made with love, delivered with dignity.

Hunger is closer than it looks.

1 in 6 children in Southeast Michigan doesn't have reliable access to food. Right here in Troy, 7 of our 22 public schools report free/reduced lunch rates of 20%+; several over 40%.

These aren't statistics from somewhere else. These are our neighbors. Our kids' classmates. Families down the street.

That's why we're building Our Giving Kitchen.

"The most meaningful moments always happened in the kitchen. Whether it was prepping for Shabbat dinner or cooking for a holiday gathering, people opened up when they were chopping vegetables or stirring pots together."

That's the idea behind Our Giving Kitchen. My wife Chana and I have seen it over and over, the kitchen isn't just where food gets made. It's where community gets made. We wanted to build a place where that same warmth could feed families who need it most.

This isn't a food drive. It's not a soup kitchen. It's a hands-on, joyful way to give back, and we're just getting started. Follow along as we build something special, right here in Troy.
