On June 19, 1865, the last enslaved individuals in Galveston, Texas learned of their freedom—marking a pivotal moment in our nation’s history. Juneteenth is both a celebration of liberation and a reminder of the work that remains.

At Samaritas, our mission calls us to serve with compassion, dignity, and respect for every individual. We are committed to fostering inclusive communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Today, we honor the strength, history, and contributions of those whose freedom was long delayed, reflect on our shared past, and recommit ourselves to advancing equity and justice in everything we do.

We're proud to present the work of the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, whose "Pieces Be With You" quilting group made and donated 46 quilts!

Because of their generosity, clients in our foster care, family preservation, and new American programs will sleep more comfortably.

This is what volunteering looks like. It is thoughtful, it's meaningful, and it brings comfort to those who need it most.

You can make a difference too. Get involved by creating care kits for refugees, serving as a refugee mentor, or making a monetary donation to support all programs.
