The Doniphan County Fair Association has discussed for many years about replacing the current fairgrounds. The Fair Association has held a Rodeo and Tractor pull for many years to help raise money for this construction project. We have a good amount saved but would like to explore grants and other funding opportunities.

For this to be done accurately we need bids on what the total cost would have this project.

This project would include a large livestock building that would house all animals under one roof during the fair and include a show area. Construction would include a new fair building for the inside projects. This building would also include restrooms and a kitchen. Along with space for the Extension Office to move to new facilities.

Our current buildings are in need of many updates as we have out grown them. We spend quite a bit of money each year just to keep it functioning.

The current fairgrounds are used for more than just the County 4-H Fair. We have a rodeo, tractor pull, and the community uses it for the 4th of July. We have the annual 4-H Fall Invitational field trip for all 3 Elementary School’s children held each October. Our current facility is used by many for various functions (Farmers Markets, Family reunions, Boy Scouts etc). With this new construction, it would add a kitchen to the building making our fairgrounds more desirable for even more functions. The large livestock building would be an open space that would allow for many functions under a roof for example estate auction, concerts, community events, and social gatherings.

The Fair Association greatly appreciates all the support that we have been given over the years.

Meet Jessica Juhl! Jessica has been volunteering with Doniphan County K-State Extension since 2010, but grew up immersed in 4-H.

Jessica says, "My whole life, personally and professionally, is focused on helping the lives of children and families. In my opinion, 4-H is the best family driven program that accepts and enriches the lives of all youth regardless of differences and circumstances."

Kathy Tharman, Doniphan County Extension Director, says, "She is very active in our 4-H program, and a wonderful friend always ready to lend a helping hand. Jessica has been an integral part of our 4-H program, and Fair Association fundraising efforts in the Doniphan County community."
