Starting in July, this residency will teach you how to use digital fabrication techniques like 3D modeling, 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC routing, and more. You will also get full 24/7 access to TVCOG for the duration of the program, allowing you to work on more than just your final project. Speaking of your final project- you will have a small materials stipend to work on a signature project to be displayed, alongside your other work if you so choose, at Downtown Troy’s Annual Victorian Stroll. The COG was a proud Contributing Sponsor of the Capital Region Chamber's Entrepreneur Boot Camp. At the culminating Pitch Competition, 3rd Place winner Curtis Witters received a 2-month Professional Maker membership to The COG. He will be using this membership to support his business, Lil Villa Publishing.

Curtis has already started learning 3D printing, which he will be using to develop figurines of a character from his upcoming children’s book. He has also spent time in our 2D printing area, helping a client work towards publishing their new work. His overall goal is to organize his marketing and advertising materials, and to learn digital fabrication techniques, such as laser cutting, for his business needs.

If you would also like access to our digital fabrication equipment, as well as dedicated workspace, consider a Professional Maker membership. You will also receive discounts on equipment usage, and have connections to resources such as funding, manufacturing referrals, business assistance, and our community of makers. This tax incentive allows companies to enter into a five year window of exemption from NYS income tax (personal taxes, for all founders) and state sales tax on purchases (for the business). This window lasts for five years, regardless of company age when entering the program, provided the company remains in good standing as a resident or graduate of its incubator.
