SHRED is a 501c3 foundation with the mission of providing life and career opportunities for young people through snow and skate culture. The foundation will work with community organizations, schools, local recreation departments, snow/skate companies, reps and shops to create snowboard and skateboard programs for youth. to provide apprentice programs for kids who are interested in pursuing potent
ial careers within. We will incorporate the core aspects of the culture which include; individuality, creativity, progression, entrepreneurial drive and community. SHRED will also work to provide scholarships for youth to travel and attend snow and skate camps as well as other opportunities as they arise. The foundation will also work to create additional opportunities for youth to continue to snowboard though lobbying the snow industry to establish special "legacy" programs that will allow youth and snowboarding families the ability to have access to discounted lift tickets and season passes. SHRED will also facilitate Professional Development clinics for current and upcoming educators in order to encourage them toward establishing the same core aspects of our culture into their everyday classrooms. By providing educators with the insight into youth culture and through exposing them to their own creativity and passions, we feel the culture provided out on the hill or in the park would be translated, respected, supported and cultivated in the classroom and school environment. The foundation is built upon three major pillars "Fear, Fail, Flow." These pillars exemplify the basic aspects of the culture by cultivating risk taking, progression through failure and, finally, the style, joy and freedom which comes from the mastery of snowboarding and skateboarding. Our intent is to honor the history and to, above all else, maintain the authenticity and integrity of the culture that we love. We will remember to always allow that to guide us in what we endeavor to do to help change the lives of those we look to serve.
