Last week at Troy Rotary, Ted Clem and Alex Whaley hosted Casey Moore, Director of the Academy Street Career Innovation Center.
Moore shared how the new career academy on the historic Academy Street campus is already serving students from Troy City, Pike County, and Dale County Schools. Classes began in August, the first time students have filled that building since 1970, with many earning dual-enrollment credit through Enterprise State Community College in pathways that feed local jobs, including computer science, mechatronics, criminal justice, culinary arts, and utility lineman.
A great reminder of the work happening right here to prepare students for high-demand careers and strengthen Pike County’s workforce.

Last week, Rotary was proud to welcome Savannah W**d as our guest speaker!
Savannah shared her inspiring journey taking on the Make-A-Wish Trailblazer Challenge, reminding us all of the power of determination, community, and making wishes come true.

This week at Rotary, we heard from Stan Blankenship, Professor of Practice and Coordinator for the Sorrell College of Business at Troy University.

Stan shared stories from his years with Fruit of the Loom and spoke about how much Troy University means to him.

We also heard from our scholarship award recipient, Olivia Schwarte from Pike Liberal Arts School. Olivia spoke about the impact of the support and her plans for the future.

Yesterday at Rotary, we had a quarterly business meeting where we discussed our new year and brainstormed ways to grow the impact of our club. We also had the pleasure of inducting Kait Nesbitt, Communications Coordinator for the College of Health Sciences at Troy University, as our newest member. Welcome to Troy Rotary, Kait!

Last week, TRC welcomed Dr. Dana Wilson, a volunteer at community resource SAV-A-LIFE, to come share the services they provide. It is always great to learn about local resources and how rotary can help!
