Rensselaer Land Trust

Rensselaer Land Trust Building a legacy of natural spaces to leave for future generations. Our land is your land.

The only not-for-profit land trust dedicated to the preservation of natural spaces throughout Rensselaer County, New York, especially land that protects sources of drinking water, provides natural habitat for wildlife and maintains the scenic rural character of the community. We protect the watersheds of the Hudson and Hoosic Rivers in Rensselaer County, which include the Poestenkill, Wynantskill,

Quackenkill and Kinderhook Creeks, as well as the watershed of the Tomhannock Reservoir, which supplies over 125,000 people with clean water in Rensselaer and Albany counties.

Get together with a community of people who love the land like you do—at the Fall Woodland Gala!

The Hudson Taconic Lands Fall Woodland Gala is 5 WEEKS AWAY on Thursday, September 25 at Franklin Plaza Ballroom in downtown Troy! If you haven’t purchased a ticket yet, we hope you’ll consider joining us for our largest annual fundraiser—and if you’re already planning to attend, we encourage you to spread the word to friends!

This year’s gala is sure to be a joyful and inspiring gathering of people who love the land. It’s especially important right now for our conservation work, as some of our federal funding did not come through this year. The gala is a FUN way to keep this work going strong.

For many years, the Rensselaer Land Trust held its annual membership meeting at Brown's Brewing in downtown Troy. This event was an opportunity for RLT members to gather and share a meal while also conducting some official RLT business. RLT leadership announced the Bill Niemi Conservation Leadership and Volunteer of the Year Awards. After a brief hiatus while Rensselaer Land Trust and Rensselaer Plateau Alliance merged our two organizations to form Hudson Taconic Lands, we are ready to bring back this special event!

You’re invited to our 2025 Spring Banquet for a celebration of spring and all the work we have done together over this past year! 🌸🌻🌹

The Spring Banquet will be held at Brown’s Brewing Revolution Hall in Troy on April 13th, starting at noon. This will be a laid-back event where we can eat yummy food and enjoy each other’s company by the water as we warm up from this icy winter.

Tickets are now available here: https://www.rensselaerplateau.org/2025-spring-banquet
