Giovanna and her respite staff, Melva, spend two mornings each week volunteering in the bulk department at Honest Weight Co-op. Theyโ€™ve become a familiar part of the team!

Whether theyโ€™re helping organize products, stock items, or keep the department looking its best, Giovanna takes pride in contributing to her community and being part of something bigger.

Volunteer opportunities like this are about more than giving back. They help build confidence, develop job skills, create connections, and showcase the many ways people with disabilities contribute to their communities every day.

We love seeing Giovanna doing work she enjoys while making a difference at the same time! ๐Ÿ’š

A group from Brunswick Center Services enjoyed a sunny day at HeartsHerd Animal Sanctuary, helping feed and care for the animals.

Volunteering at Hearts Herd has become a favorite activity for many people at BCS. Whether they're helping with daily chores or spending time with the animals, they're actively contributing and playing a role in the work that keeps the farm running.

A big thank you to Hearts Herd for continuing to welcome our crew. We always appreciate community partners who recognize that everyone has something to contribute. ๐Ÿ๐Ÿด๐Ÿ“โ˜€๏ธ

A group from our Brunswick Center Services (BCS) Day Habilitation program spent the day exploring the Grafton Peace Pagoda. They enjoyed the beautiful surroundings and learned about Buddha, Buddhist culture, and traditions from around the world. The group walked the grounds, asked questions, and experienced a place dedicated to peace and reflection. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

One of the highlights was visiting the prayer room, where participants were able to see artifacts, artwork, and photographs that offered a glimpse into Buddhist history and beliefs.

Experiences like these are important because everyone deserves opportunities to learn about different cultures, explore their communities, and expand their understanding of the world. People with disabilities are often excluded from cultural and educational experiences, but community inclusion means having the chance to discover new places, build connections, and participate in the same enriching opportunities as anyone else.

It was a day filled with learning, curiosity, and appreciation for the many ways people find meaning, community, and peace.

A huge thank you to Nicole from Bare&Bloom Wax for spending time with our Women's Group today!

Nicole joined us to talk about waxing, answer questions, and even did a live demonstration on one of our staff members. Afterward, she generously offered waxing services to the women in our group, and several of the ladies chose to give eyebrow waxing a try....many for the very first time.

Experiences like this might seem simple, but they're important. Women with disabilities often have fewer opportunities to access beauty, self-care, and wellness experiences. Today's visit wasn't just about eyebrows. It was about confidence, choice, learning something new, and enjoying a little bit of girlhood together.

As an added surprise, Nicole stayed afterward and treated staff members to free eyebrow waxing too!
We're so grateful for community members like Nicole who share their talents and help create meaningful experiences for the people we support.

Interested in sharing a hobby, skill, profession, or activity with our Women's Group? We'd love to hear from you! Email Amber at [email protected] to learn more about volunteer opportunities.

Because of the incredible generosity of our community and everyone who donated to Glam Day, we had enough supplies left over to create a brand-new Glam Cart! ๐Ÿ’„โœจ

The Glam Cart is filled with makeup, hair care, and grooming items. It will be used during our Women's Group, which meets every other Wednesday. It's a fun way for the women we support to explore self-care, try new products, build confidence, and learn new skills in a welcoming environment.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this possible. Your donations continue to create opportunities long after the event is over.

Interested in making a difference and having some fun? We're always looking for volunteers to help lead activities, share hobbies and talents, or simply spend time with the amazing women in our group. If you'd like to get involved, message us or email Amber at [email protected]

And we are still taking donations of beauty items to keep the cart stocked! ๐Ÿ™‚

Last week, we held our first-ever Emerald Club Luncheon to celebrate the employees who have dedicated 20+ years to The Arc.

In a field where employee turnover remains high nationwide, we're pretty proud that nearly 10% of our workforce has been here for more than two decades. That's a testament to their commitment and the impact they've had on the people we support, their coworkers, and our community.

The Emerald Club isn't just about years on a calendar. It's about the relationships built over time, the knowledge passed along to new staff, and the countless moments (big and small) that have helped shape our Arc into what it is today.

To our Emerald Club members: thank you for choosing The Arc year after year. We are lucky to have you, and we're excited to make this luncheon a new tradition.

A while back, our DSP Jacob mentioned one of his favorite hobbies: Dungeons & Dragons. A few people were curious and asked if they could learn how to play. Fast forward to today, and what started as one small group has grown into two campaigns because so many people wanted to join the adventure.

It's a great example of the unique ways DSPs can impact someone's life. Sometimes it's not about introducing a formal program. It's about sharing a personal interest and creating a space where people can connect, learn something new, and discover a hobby they genuinely enjoy. Through D&D, people are building friendships, practicing teamwork, solving problems, using their imaginations, and gaining confidence as they tell stories together.

For many people with disabilities, activities like tabletop gaming can be a fun way to strengthen communication skills, social connections, and self-expression.

This week's quest? โ˜€๏ธ Taking the campaign outside to enjoy some sunshine while continuing the adventure.

Every great campaign needs a good party....and every great support team needs passionate people. If you're looking for a career where sharing your hobbies and interests can help others learn, grow, and connect, consider joining our team as a DSP. Your next adventure could start here. ๐ŸŽฒ Apply here: https://secure8.entertimeonline.com/ta/ARCRC.careers?CareersSearch=&lang=en-US

Today weโ€™re celebrating an incredible milestone of a ! Mindy is marking 20 years at Extreme Molding, and her coworkers made sure the occasion didnโ€™t go unnoticed with a surprise celebration.

The party was decorated with a guinea pig theme... and if you know Mindy, you know that's a perfect choice. She is famously proud of her beloved guinea pigs and never misses a chance to share a story or photo of them!

When talking about Mindy, her boss shared that whenever visitors come through the building, he makes a point to introduce them to her because of her positive attitude and welcoming personality. It was also noted that her attention to detail is second to none, sheโ€™s known for being very meticulous with her work!

We couldnโ€™t be prouder of all that Mindy has accomplished over the last two decades. In addition to her success at work, Mindy also serves on our Board of Directors, helping shape the future of our organization and advocate for people with disabilities throughout our community.

Congratulations, Mindy, on 20 amazing years! Your hard work, leadership, and positivity make a difference everywhere you go....and we're pretty sure your guinea pigs would agree. ๐Ÿน๐Ÿ’™
