WHAT A BLESSING TODAY WAS! ✨

Today was busy, beautiful, and truly encouraging! We came together, shared a meal AND had the joy of giving backpacks and school supplies to children and families as they prepare for a new school year. 🎒📚

Our hope was simple: to take at least one thing off a family’s plate and help the children start school with dignity, confidence, and excitement ❤️

This day would not have been possible without our amazing village!

Today was a most special day at our Saturday community meal.

We will always be forever thankful for the support of Pioneer - NY and Broadview Credit Union and our community supporters for the generous donations to the Back-To-School backpack giveaway. We supported over one hundred children to start the school year with the necessary supplies and backpacks to be successful.

Strong and dedicated volunteers set up (and broke down) tables and chairs and manned the pop up food pantry tables.

Our kitchen and meal volunteers chopped, cooked and served a delicious child friendly meal of macaroni and cheese, chicken legs, veggies, chips and watermelon! Every single serving of food was enjoyed and the serving dishes were empty!

Still other volunteers supervised the backpack giveaway! There were some happy kids here today!

Perhaps the true highlight of our day today was to recognize and honor the woman who had the vision of Refuge Place, Inc ~ Fortune!
This summer, while being a supportive wife, loving mother, dedicated worker and a diligent student, Fortune completed the required studies to be awarded her Masters Degree!
What an inspiration and exemplary example she sets for others!
Congratulations Fortune!
Refuge Place, Inc wouldn’t be what it is without you and your always inclusive way of drawing all together.
You are a true blessing!

🏠 REFUGE PLACE NEEDS A HOME. ❤️

For more than three years, we have been blessed to serve our community, approaching our fourth year of sharing meals, support, resources, clothing, pop up pantry and, most importantly, a place where people feel welcomed and cared for.

But now, we need your help.

We recently learned that the space we have been using may not be available to us during the upcoming Fall and winter. That means we may not have a place to serve our community during the coldest months, and we simply don’t want to pause our service.

We have never missed a community meal, and we know that has only been possible because of God’s grace, the incredible people and organizations who continue to stand beside us.

Do you know a landlord, business owner, contractor, church, organization, or anyone with a space that could help Refuge Place Inc. have a temporary or permanent home?

We are looking for a space near North Central Troy where we can continue preparing and serving meals and providing support to our neighbors.

🎒Oh summer, where art thou?! 😩😂 We blinked and suddenly the kids are getting ready to go BACK TO SCHOOL!

We’re so excited to see everyone next Saturday during our community lunch, August 29th, for our Back-to-School Giveaway! 🎒✏️

Thanks to the amazing support of Pioneer - NY, Broadview Federal Credit Union, and our wonderful community donors, we’re able to help families get their kiddos ready for the new school year.

And yes… BRING THE KIDS! We’ll have backpacks, school supplies, and some sneakers while supplies last. 👟 (Sneaker sizes are limited!)

✨ “Giving doesn’t have to be big to make a big difference. Sometimes, a little kindness is exactly what someone needs.”
Yesterday’s lunch was a beautiful reminder that giving is not about how much you have; it’s about how much love you’re willing to share.

Lunch was warm, welcoming, and full of beautiful moments. With so much happening in the community yesterday, we were grateful for everyone who still made time to stop by, share a meal, and spend time with us.

We even tried a new recipe, and let’s say… Everyone who shared a plate LOVED it! 🥘❤️

We appreciate everyone who donated clothing, fresh produce, time, and support. Your generosity allows us to keep showing up for our community.

One thing that stood out to us yesterday was this: even when we don’t have much, what we have mean so much to someone else. And that is what Refuge Place Inc. is about, being there, sharing what we can, and reminding our neighbors that they are seen, valued, and cared for.
