It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Ralph William Knapp, a dedicated and beloved member of the Troy Fire Department since September 11, 1970.
For over five decades, Ralph served our community with unwavering commitment and pride. He was active every single year since joining—always showing up, always ready to help. Ralph served many years on the Board of Directors and was known as the department’s handyman—there truly wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix.
Ralph’s dedication went far beyond his skills and service. He was the heart of the department—a dependable friend, a loyal firefighter, and someone who always answered the call without hesitation or question.
Ralph’s legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched and the department he helped build and maintain. He will be deeply missed by his fellow firefighters, friends, family, and the entire Troy community.
Rest easy, Ralph. We’ll take it from here. 🔥🚒❤️

Please be mindful in these high temps.

It’s not something people would immediately think of but with the unusually hot weather lately, it’s worth sharing. 2 years ago this baby suffered 2nd degree burns over 30% of his body from being accidentally sprayed with a garden hose and firefighters have issued a fresh warning recently.

A garden hose exposed to direct sunlight during summer can heat the water inside the hose (not flowing) to 130-140 degrees Fahrenheit which can cause burns especially to children & animals.
Let the water flow a few minutes to cool before spraying on people or animals.

This was not a call our department ran. This is simply a reminder to let the water run until its cool before spraying a child or animal.

We would like to extend our gratitude to Rodney Decker of Western Alliance Emergency Services for taking the time to do a recertification for our department’s CPR/AED training. There were 20 members in attendance tonight. Thank you to all the members that attended. Your dedication speaks volumes.
