Jim was born in Jamaica, New York and graduated from High School in 1968. The year following his graduation he joined the United States Navy where he served aboard the USS Nitro, an auxiliary ammunition ship serving with the Sixth Fleet. After his time aboard the Nitro in 1970- 1971, he went on to the Naval Reserves until 1974 when he was honorably discharged as a 3rd c

lass petty officer. They have two daughters, Laura and Jeanette, one son-in-law Michael and three grandchildren, Alexander, Abigail and Natalia. (Three generations of Auxiliary members plus a SAL
grandson.) Jim spent his entire working career
in the Automotive Service industry where he began as a Parts Manager at a local Chevrolet Dealer and went on to serve in many capacities of management. At the time of his retirement in February, 2017, he was Director of Service and Parts at a New York Metro Mercedes Benz dealership. After a brief time at home, Jim began an entirely new career as a school bus driver for the Falmouth School District and also works part- time as a motorcoach operator. As a 29-year Paid-Up-for-Life member of William E. DeBevoise Jr American Legion Post 1682 in New City, NY, Jim credits a great deal of his advancement in The American Legion to his post and its members.
