Grateful to attend the Oakland Community Health Network (OCHN) Legislative Breakfast this morning alongside community leaders, partners, and policymakers dedicated to strengthening behavioral health in Oakland County.

One message was clear throughout the discussion: sustainability matters. As the demand for mental health services increases, we must keep building systems that are accessible, coordinated, and responsive to those we serve.

What stood out most was the power of partnership. When organizations, providers, and legislators unite with a shared purpose, we create real opportunities to close care gaps, reduce barriers, and support individuals and families before they reach a crisis.

The impact of this work is tangible. OCHN’s CISM team alone has supported hundreds of individuals, with over 945 encounters, 31 critical incident responses, and outreach across first responders, community settings, workplaces, and schools. This exemplifies meeting people where they are and providing support when it matters most.

I am proud to be part of an organization that not only leads these conversations but also actively drives meaningful change in our community.

The work continues, and I look forward to being part of the solutions ahead.

Advocacy in Action

I first met Representative Sharon MacDonell at a town hall in 2023 while I was a graduate student at Wayne State University. I had the chance to see her again in 2024 and 2025 at the Michigan Council of Nurse Practitioners Advocacy Day at the State Capitol.

Each time, she has consistently demonstrated strong support for frontline workers and a clear commitment to advancing mental health advocacy.

It was great seeing her again today at the OCHN Legislative Breakfast. I look forward to working together to support the residents of Oakland County.

Great to be part of today’s Community Help Fair. Events like this are a powerful reminder of what happens when people come together with a shared purpose, connecting individuals and families to real, tangible resources that support health, stability, and long term wellbeing.

I especially want to recognize the incredible work that David Underwood is doing in the community through Detroit Community Care Network. Their commitment to bridging gaps in care and making resources accessible is exactly the kind of work that creates meaningful change.

From health and wellness services to housing, employment, and mental health support, the impact is real and it matters.

Looking forward to building a strong partnership with David and the team and continuing to expand access to care for the communities we serve.

Better access. Fewer crises. Stronger communities.

Grateful to be part of the OCHN Roundtable on Crisis and Law Enforcement at the Resource & Crisis Center in Pontiac.

When we improve gaps in mental health care, we reduce the need for law enforcement involvement and emergency room visits. That is how real system change happens.

One of the highlights was meeting Captain Todd Hill and his partner Cali, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and therapy canine with the Sheriff’s Office Comfort K9 program. These dogs are trained to provide comfort to first responders and community members during traumatic incidents and everyday stress, a powerful reminder that support comes in many forms.

I also want to acknowledge the incredible leadership at Oakland Community Health Network. I am grateful to be working alongside a team that is truly committed to improving mental health care and strengthening our community.

Resilience is not the absence of struggle, but the courage to keep moving forward.

Grateful. Honored. Ready.

I’m proud to share that I’ve been appointed to serve on the Oakland Community Health Network (OCHN) Board.

Thank you to the Oakland County Commissioners for the trust you’ve placed in me. I’m committed to showing up, serving, and making a meaningful impact.

On March 17, 2026, I attended my first board meeting and was warmly welcomed by both the board and the OCHN team. You can feel the mission the moment you walk in.

Appreciation to Dana Lasenby (CEO), Trisha Zizumbo (COO), and Dr. Vasilis Pozios (CMO) for your leadership and warm welcome.

This role is about more than a seat at the table. It’s about advancing system-level change, improving access to care, and advocating for those navigating their journey in silence.

I’m also looking forward to sharing OCHN events, resources, trainings, and opportunities through blog and vlog content to better connect our community.

This is purpose-driven work. I’m ready.
