Clarification on the email from the district today: masks are required for ALL, not just K-8. We are currently in a high/substantial risk category, so until we go below that, masks are required.

Don't forget that the school board meeting is TONIGHT at 7pm, to discuss a proposed change to the timeline to go back in the classroom. This was brought about due to the increase in COVID cases and the recommendation of the Oakland County Health Department.

It's a WIN!!! Thank you just doesn't seem adequate right now. I'm so, so, so grateful to everyone for helping to get me on the Avondale School Board. From those who gave advice when I was thinking about it to my squad who was my sounding board to those who placed signs to those who liked and shared my message and more. This is a win for our community. So excited to be a member of the Avondale School Board. I'll be prepping immediately, but rolling up my sleeves in January.

One week until the most anticipated election in years - the Avondale School Board election!! LOL

Seriously, though - while this isn't at the level or enthusiasm of the "other election races" it's still very important.

While turn-out should be relatively high, many people select candidates for the bigger races and then skip the school board options because they don't know the candidates.

In the final week of voting, please help share my website and/or page to help your network know that I'm a dedicated candidate! Thank you to everyone's kindness and support! And make sure you vote too!

The Free Press has a comprehensive voting guide that now has the school board positions. The questionnaires there are VERY extensive, so lots of info about the candidates! Check it out!

The board passed the motion for the in-seat plans and timelines, so whatever you chose in the survey is a go...

Lots of changes to the initial plan were shared at the Town Hall tonight, in response to community comments.

A few changes:
* HS won't start until the second semester (January)
* There will be an official process to request a change between F2F and remote (through Feb. 5 for the trimester students)
* Remote is now the default if the survey is not answered

Some gray areas still, but more info to help inform our decisions. Certainly not everyone will be happy, but there are some improvements and I'm grateful that community feedback has made a difference.

For those who missed the board meeting tonight (still going on as of 11:30pm), the board opted to delay a decision on return to school until after the survey results are in.

Town Hall meetings on Wednesday (10/14). Board decision next Monday (10/19).
