Well tonight went the way I was hoping it would. The committee decided not to recommend to City Council to temporarily shut down the DORA for the Strawberry Festival!

Now I have spoken with the Executive Board of the festival and they are in complete agreement to make sure that the DORA and the festival go off without problems since this was the decision. So with that being said I would appreciate any help that our group can offer to the festival and the community to make sure that we do not have any issues with this.

We as a community need to find a way to work together amongst our organizations to make Troy the place we all know it is.

Please volunteer for the festival and help with making it a success for the festival, the non-profits, the downtown businesses, and our community!!

Team, it has been brought to our attention that the Troy Strawberry Festival is asking that the DORA be suspended during the festival. They are planning on having a beer garden on the levee, and want that to be the only alcohol sales during the weekend.

Can we get a few people to go to the City Council meeting this evening to show support for the DORA? The community voted overwhelmingly to enact the DORA and this is the first major event and someone is already trying to get it shut down.

We want to support the Troy Strawberry Festival, but let’s do it with partnerships, not shutting down the DORA!!

We have gotten several questions about the DORA over the last few days so we thought we would address some of the questions and concerns.

1. This is a picture of the signage that has been posted to mark the entrances and exits of the DORA.
2. Public intoxication is still illegal and not permitted in the DORA district.
3. The cups cannot be refilled in another liquor establishment. They are reusable in the sense that you can take them home and reuse them at home.
4. You CANNOT fill your DORA cup with your own beverage. DORA beverages must be purchased in an establishment within the DORA district that has a liquor license.
5. All liquor establishments within the DORA district are planning to sell DORA drinks.
6. We do not have a list of businesses who will allow DORA drinks in their business. Businesses have flexibility to change whether or not they will allow DORA drinks during the designated days and times. In order to know which businesses allow DORA drinks, you will have to look for the green or red sign posted in their door.
7. After we run out of the cups that were donated by Harlow Builders the DORA cups may change. We will share those details as soon as we have them.

As we move closer we wanted to remind everyone that a Dora cup cannot be refilled and a new cup must be given every time you get a beverage in a Dora cup. Cheers!!!
