Too true

Too true

One day they’re going to be too big for the splash pad.
Too cool for family movie nights.
Too busy to yell “Mom, watch this!” from the water. 😭

And I promise you…

we are not going to remember the laundry piles.
Or the dishes in the sink.
Or how tired we were all the time.

We’re going to remember the ice cream runs.
The wet swimsuits on the porch.
The late sunsets.
The blurry pictures.
The popsicle stains.
The way they reached for our hand without even thinking about it.

We’re going to remember the summers
we said yes more than no.

So this is your reminder, mama 💛

Stay a little longer.
Play in the water with them.
Buy the popsicles.
Take the trip.
Watch the sunset.
Let the bedtime slide every once in a while.

Because one day…

they’ll stop asking us to watch.

And these little summers we’re living right now?
They’re the ones we’ll miss the most someday. 🌊☀️🍦

Many thanks to Lansingburgh Historical Society Trustee, and well-know Lansingburgh Retired Teacher, Byron Moak who shared his Uncle Sam Collection with our visitors today.

A great collection that included a dancing Uncle Sam. (Yes, we should have gotten video!)
