At 10:05 AM, TRVFC and HTVFC were dispatched to a vehicle crash in the 9000 block of RT 15/99 South. When we arrived, there were multiple military vehicles blocking traffic for safety. One military Humvee and a GMC truck were involved in the crash with no injuries. Once PSP arrived, we rolled the trailer attached to the Humvee back onto its wheels. Shortly thereafter, the military convoy was on its way to training. The pickup truck was loaded onto a rollback wrecker and normal traffic resumed.

On August 9, 2024, our building was substantially damaged by flooding. Since then, we have completed multiple evaluations to determine the best path forward. Repair estimates required to bring the building into compliance with current building code and floodplain standards have exceeded $2.5 million. Based on those costs, we determined that replacing the building is the best option rather than repairing the existing structure.

We evaluated four separate locations for relocating the fire station. After reviewing those options, we determined that the property we currently occupy provides the best location for emergency response operations. To make full use of the site, we worked with the Township to abandon Creamery Street and maximize the available space on our property.

The new building will be constructed near the south end of our existing building, extending toward our property line next to the truck stop, and will be built directly over Creamery Street. We have been working diligently through the permitting process and hope to see the initial phases of construction begin within the next several weeks.

As of this date, we have not yet received a final settlement from our insurance company. However, we have secured grant funding to keep the project moving forward.

We appreciate all the support we have received over the last two years. Despite the devastation we experienced, we are proud to have continued providing emergency services without interruption.

If you'd like to make a donation toward our new building, please send it to TRVFC, 241 Route 14 Hwy, Trout Run, PA 17771 or click here:
