As we remember Dolly Parton, we're thinking about how her legacy is directly connected to the work we do every day at the Brunner Literacy Center. Dolly’s belief in the power of literacy began with her own father, who was unable to read or write. That experience inspired her to create the Imagination Library, providing free books to children and helping families build a love of reading from an early age.

Working alongside Ohio First Lady Fran DeWine, Dolly helped bring the Imagination Library to children across our state. Today, more than 400,000 Ohio children, about 60% of those eligible, receive a free book every month.

At the BLC, we see every day how literacy can open doors, build confidence, strengthen families, and change the trajectory of a life.
Dolly understood that.

We’re grateful for the millions of lives she touched, and especially for the gift of literacy she gives to so many children right here in Ohio.

Thank you, Dolly, for reminding us that a book can change a life. 📚❤️

Investing in our leaders 💙
Our Program, Marketing, and Finance Managers recently participated in the Mathile Family Foundation's two-day course for non-profit leaders.
Opportunities like this give our staff the chance to learn, grow, and bring new ideas and perspectives back to our organization. We’re grateful to the Mathile Family Foundation for investing in nonprofit leaders and their commitment to strengthening the organizations that serve our community.

Today is National Nonprofit Day, and we’re celebrating the people who make organizations like the Brunner Literacy Center possible. 💙

Behind every nonprofit are people who believe that their community can be better. People willing to roll up their sleeves and make it happen.

At BLC, that means tutors who give their time, donors who invest in our mission, staff & volunteers who share their talents, and students who show up ready to learn. Together, you’re helping adults build literacy skills, pursue their goals, gain confidence, and create new opportunities for themselves and their families.

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who believes that literacy is a human right and that everyone deserves the opportunity to learn.

Last Thursday, the BLC proudly celebrated our GED graduates and the incredible hard work, dedication, and perseverance that brought them to this milestone! Surrounded by loved ones, our graduates were honored at a joyful and inspiring graduation ceremony. 🎓🎉
Thank you to our guest speakers, Robert Mackey and Onita Morgan-Edwards, Mariah Adu for her special performance, and everyone who came out and helped make this event possible.
