As Whitley finally grows out of preemie clothes, I debated whether I should keep them or donate them to the NICU. That is where the idea for the “Tiny but Mighty NICU Charity” came to mind. Anyone anywhere can donate new or used preemie clothes or other items that I will personally wash and take to NICUs in the Houston area. Speaking from experience I was not prepared and didn’t have any preemie clothes. Not only that but it is such a hassle to find any preemie clothing in stores. Thankfully family and friends were able to find some outfits while I was still in the hospital. I understand the stress of not being prepared and having a preemie baby. No outfits. No diapers. No socks. No hats. I even needed a special ni**le for bottles. I want to help other NICU families that are feeling the pressure. I will be excepting any donations through mail or local pickup. I’m starting small for now and hoping soon to have an online source for NICU moms to be able to communicate certain items they need. I will be going to all the Texas Children locations in the Houston area to distribute the donations received. Since bringing Whitley home I have been trying to think of ways to give back and help NICU families. I’ve been praying for an opportunity like this to come around. Romans 8:28 says “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” God is the reason I am able to hold my little girl. She overcame so much for being as little as she is. There is purpose in the struggle, pain, and suffering… to make us stronger Christians. The Lord gave this family a testimony and opportunity to serve him in an unique way. Pray that each and every one of you carefully consider donating.
