Mickey's House

Mickey's House A Trinity Community Enhancement Facility It also provided for a focal point in rehabilitating and repurposing downtown properties.

Billed as a Community Enhancement Facility, the Malcom and Sam Barnes Foundation has re-invested in the old Community Health Center in downtown Trinity. It has been appropriately named Mickey's House, for Malcom (Mickey) Barnes, wife of Dr. Sam Barnes, honoring her dedicated and extensive long-standing civic work in the community. The elegantly appointed venue was borne out of a need for community

improvement and to meet the needs of local organizations with quality, suitable facilities. Mickey's House will provide an appropriate venue for small to medium sized meetings (up to 50 people), as well as small weddings, parties, receptions, reunions, funerals, showers, wakes and rehearsal dinners. Anyone booking the meeting room will have access to kitchen facilities and equipment. The Barnes Foundation also continues fulfilling their philanthropic mission by including offices to be provided to local non-profit organizations that work for community improvement. The Foundation Board reviews the organizations' requests for office space based upon their contributions to the community and any improvement value that organization offers. Mickey's House will continue to grow in community enhancement and services in the coming months. Plans include to house a Computer Club which students can utilize for completing homework in a quiet, safe environment. Adult interest has encouraged administrators to offer computer classes. A volunteer instructor will be available three days a week for these services. A language lab will also be available. Currently Crime Stoppers, the Public Library, the Trinity PTA, Scout Troop 684 the S.E. Barnes Foundation and the Trinity Co Emergency Mgmt Coordinator all have offices within the building. Administrators welcome the public to stop by to look at these facilities and to see the contributions it will make to the Trinity community. They insist that the goal of enhancing the community has been and will continue to be met, honoring a woman who also truly enhanced her hometown -- Mickey Barnes.
