Keep you informed about what is going on with the Historical Group and different posts about the history of Trinity, Texas and the families that helped to make Trinity, Texas. Early on, it became evident that the programs were providing some interesting material which should be put into a permanent record and made available for others. Among the many good reasons, the present needs to have a knowl

edge of the past. People and events of the past have set the stage for today just as we are setting the stage for tomorrow. Perhaps many of the events we record are not of national headline importance, but they are close to home and that lends importance to them for use, and hopefully, for our children. Taken from The Trinity Historical Society preface page in The History of Trinity Texas book. Over the years the historical Society has found that historical records have been lost, never recorded. Some other reasons are fire, water, weather are also the cause for some records not to be around anymore. With this page we hope that everyone will enjoy looking and sharing the history of Trinity, Texas. If you have anything you would love to share pictures, stories with The Trinity Historical Society please feel free to. In the calendar of events you will see when meetings are time will be posted the closer the date of meeting. This is a picture of the 1909 fire. The person taking the picture is standing with Railroad St behind them and looking towards Robb St(HWY19). The first building is C.H. Elliotts Grocery and Furniture store on Main St. It was a 2 story building and after it burned became a 1 story. The building is still standing today(2 purple doors is the start of it). If you stand in the alley today and look up at the side of the building you can see the pattern of the brick that was replaced. CH Elliott Sr. Is in the picture others in picture we are not sure of who they were.
