Cattlemen's Ag Water NetWORK will host a webinar on Novel Surface Irrigation Technologies on October 7, 2026 12:00 PM Mountain Time. The webinar will cover two new Colorado-grown technologies that improve irrigation efficiency and free up time for flood and furrow irrigators.
Presenters:
Alex Ewers, 3Rocks Engineering, will explain the SteadyFlow gate, a mechanical ‘smart water gate’ that maintains consistent flow in a ditch and reduces time needed for manual adjustment. A gate can be set to different flow levels, allowing unlimited adjustment. Regardless of the higher flow in the source ditch, the gate allows users to take only their decreed water right. Applications include ditches with varying rights, or users who need to fully shut off a system.
James Ries, North 40 Technologies, will overview their programmable irrigation pipe gate valve system that eliminates the need to manually change irrigation sets. The system is solar-powered and works with pipe diameters ranging from 8 to 12 inches. The gates can be adjusted to any setting between fully open and fully closed and can be used in conjunction with edge-of-field sensors to advance the set when water reaches the lower end of the field.
