IT'S TIME TO TAKE ACTIONS FOR CALIFORNIA'S RIVERS & CLEAN WATER ‼️ Last week Governor Newsom vetoed two important bills that would have helped California Tribes better protect and access waters and lands, along with water affordability and levy protection bills.
‼️ On Oct 29th the California State Water Board may vote to approve the Bay Delta Plan with the Voluntary Agreements, an action that will impact not only the Trinity River but also the Sacramento, Feather, and Bay Delta.
‼️ All over California the Bureau of Reclamation is violating its own laws by not providing water for fish and coordinating with Tribes and agencies
Join us in taking action:

Congratulations Oakland! No Data Centers in the Bay!

Tonight Oakland became the first city in Alameda County and the fifth in the wider Bay Area to adopt a moratorium on data center development, following Oakley, Gilroy, Richmond, and San Francisco!

The massive data center buildout driven by the generative AI boom is a threat to communities across the country, especially lower income and BIPOC communities like East and West Oakland that are already on the frontlines of pollution and environmental racism. A new data center in Oakland could guzzle water unsustainably, keep fossil fuels online, drive more pollution, and raise your PG&E bills.

NO DATA CENTERS IN OAKLAND! Onward to fighting for permanent protections!

NOT AI CONTENT!! This month we are focusing on the Klamath River, starting with it's largest tributary, the TRINITY RIVER.
🔥 Join us this Sunday the 11th in Hoopa, California for a Protect the Trinity River free salmon dinner &
🔥 at Froth on Oct 16 at 6pm in Arcata, CA for our first Brewing Change Event; Beyond Klamath Dam Removal: the Fight for the Trinity River.
🥖 Along with sharing food we will learn about the Bay Delta Plan and Voluntary Agreements and how they impact the Trinity River, and
👉 ways we can fight back against new dams and diversions, along with chemicals in our water.

👉 If the State Board approves the current version of the water right permit for almost 1 million acre feet of water a year, Sites can divert without many of the salmon and water quality protections the first draft permit included. These protections came after a year-long process that included Tribal and scientific testimony and expert recommendations.
👉 Do to the fact that politics, rather than science, is guiding this process we are urging you to tell the board to vote NO ON SITES!

🔥 It's been 2 years since 4 out of the six dams were removed in the Klamath River.

👉 Water Quality has improved and over 20,000 salmon have moved through the old dam sites. It took us 20 years of organizing to get here We still have a lot of work to do

We still have a lot to do:
👉 👉Two dams still remain, making fish passage difficult.
Water diversions and agricultural pollution also threaten Upper Klamath Lake and tributaries.

❎ In California the Scott, Shasta and Trinity Rivers are threatened by excess diversions, including to the Central Valley Protect.
This year the Scott River even went dry.

🔥 We have a lot of work to do in the Klamath; we hope you will join us.
