The community came THROUGH… and everybody brought their "folding chair." 🪑💜

A full room. Big smiles. GOOD conversations. Nonprofits representing. Plenary sessions dropping gems. And a little Caribbean + BBQ energy in the mix because we can learn, connect AND have a good time.

And then Katherine Nunnally pulled out the ultimate folding chair—customized with the great Shirley Chisholm herself. Because if they don’t give you a seat at the table… you already know what to do.

Blacks in Philanthropy 2026 was a whole experience.

A little rain was NOT about to stop the Joy of Black Giving.

The conversations were insightful.
The energy was on point.
The food? GOOD good!

Tara Butler and Teska Frisby reminded us that Black philanthropy isn’t something new—we’ve BEEN giving. We’ve BEEN sharing. We’ve BEEN showing up for our families, our neighbors and our communities. It’s part of our culture. It’s part of our history. And the Smith Family Foundation NJ is continuing that legacy in a powerful way.

As Manager of Corporate Contributions and Program Officer in the Office of Social Impact and Inclusion at Panasonic North America, Jessica leads philanthropic strategy focused on nonprofit partnerships, grantmaking, and advancing education equity. With a decade of experience in social impact, she has championed initiatives addressing educational and economic inequities while mobilizing corporate resources to strengthen underserved communities.

Jessica also brings that commitment home as the Founder of 908 Visionaries, a youth development nonprofit serving her hometown of Plainfield, NJ.
