Special Trenton Walks Event This Sunday!

Join Trenton Walks and 120 East State Street for “The Revolutionary She” History Walk, a special guided walk exploring the stories of women in Trenton during the Revolutionary War. The walk will be led by Dr. Denise Rompilla, who will share how women were not passive observers, but active participants in the events that shaped the nation.
The route begins at 120 East State Street, the site of the First Presbyterian Church and Cemetery, and continues through downtown Trenton with stops including Mill Hill Park, the Assunpink Creek bridge, the Delaware River, and the New Jersey State Museum, where walkers will connect the walk to the museum exhibition “The Power to Change.”

Fun Runs Launch This Wednesday, June 24: Join Us on a Cross-Country Walk

Join us for a fun evening at Cadwalader Park as the City of Trenton, in partnership with Trenton Walks, Cadwalader Park Alliance and other organizations, kick off the 2026 summer Fun Runs series this Wednesday, June 24 from 6-7:30 p.m. This inclusive, open-format event invites participants of all ages and fitness levels to walk, jog, run, or simply enjoy the park at their own pace, whether independently or with others.

Trenton Walks will offer a guided tour of approximately 1.1 miles along the park’s newly established cross-country trail.

The event will take place in the Gully area near the cross-country field at the corner of Stuyvesant Avenue and Cadwalader Drive. This kickoff event is part of a weekly summer series, making it a great opportunity to build a healthy habit and connect with the community. The Architecture of William Poland
Saturday, June 6 from 10 a.m.–noon, rain date Saturday, June 13 10 a.m.–noon
The works of Trenton Architect William Poland, who designed more than 2,000 buildings in and around Trenton, will be the subject of this walk led by Karl Flesch, vice president of the Trenton Historical Society. A special treat will be an interior tour of the extraordinary Elks Lodge at 120 North Warren Street, a Poland creation. Pre-registration is required.

Walk and Cleanup on the D&R Canal State Park Towpath & Greenway
Sunday, June 7 from 3-5 p.m.
Co-hosts of this Trenton Walks Sunday afternoon event will be leaders from the N.J. Department of Environmental Protection, with all participants invited to enjoy the towpath and greenway while also helping clean up debris littering the otherwise wonderful walkway through downtown Trenton.

Circuit Coalition Comes to Trenton; Special Walk and Ride Opportunities
Monday, June 8 from 1:30-2:45 p.m.
A special walk and ride will be hosted in conjunction with the Circuit Coalition's Semi-Annual Meeting at Cooper’s Riverview in Trenton. Tim Brill, co-chair of Trenton Walks and member of the Circuit Coalition Steering Committee, will lead the walk he calls “Reconnecting Trenton's Riverfront & Revolutionary History Walk.” Members of the Trenton Cycling Revolution and the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia will lead a bike ride from Cooper’s Riverview along the Delaware River Heritage Trail towards Bordentown.

Join us as East Coast Greenway and Trenton Walks host “2 States, 2 Bridges, 2 Canals” tomorrow
Please join East Coast Greenway Alliance Managers Sofia Barandiaran (NJ & NY) and Daniel Paschall (Mid-Atlantic Region) and Trenton Walks leaders on a special 4-mile trek across the Delaware River through Trenton and Morrisville tomorrow, May 15, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Walkers will leave from and return to Cooper’s Riverview, 50 Riverview Plaza (with plenty of free parking).
Participants will learn about the 3,000-mile multi-use East Coast Greenway trail that will run through 15 states and 450 communities from Maine to Florida, including the City of Trenton. The route will include Revolutionary War sites and the Delaware & Raritan Canal State Park Towpath and will cross the Delaware River on the Calhoun Street Bridge.
Walkers will travel through Morrisville on the Delaware Canal, part of the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor. They will return to Trenton via the Lower Trenton (aka “Trenton Makes, the World Takes”) Bridge in time for conversation with old and new friends at Cooper’s Riverview.

Join Trenton Walks! in Bordentown Friday Afternoon
Friday, May 8, at 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. – The many wonders of Bordentown

John Brodowski, chair of the Bordentown City Trails Committee, will lead an on- and off-road adventure through this charming regional trail hub in Burlington County.
The walk starts and ends at the Bordentown RiverLINE station parking lot. First stop will be the new Railroad Heritage Park at the junction of the Camden & Amboy main line and the spur to Trenton. From there, walkers will travel to Bordentown Beach and the municipal boat ramp at the confluence of the Delaware River and Crosswicks and Blacks Creeks. After climbing back up the hill to enjoy the view from Thomas Paine Park, they will head back down to the Bordentown Yacht Club and cross the Crosswicks Creek on the Delaware River Heritage Trail to reach Lock #1 in Delaware & Raritan Canal State Park.
On the way back to Bordentown’s Farnsworth Avenue business district, walkers will use the Crosswicks Creek Trail for beautiful views of the Abbott Marshlands and stroll through Hilltop Park to Lime Kiln Park and the Blacks Creek Greenway.

This Saturday’s Trenton Walks event will focus on trails in Mercer County

Mercer County Executive Dan Benson will lead a 2.5-mile trek in recognition of national “Celebrate Trails Day” this Saturday, April 25, starting at 10:30 a.m. Walkers will gather at Cooper’s Riverview at 50 Riverview Plaza in Trenton before the walk along the Delaware River. They will take a few minutes for an update on the status of the 872-mile Circuit Trail Network in the metropolitan Philadelphia area which includes all of Mercer County. Then they’ll walk along the beautiful South Riverwalk Park to the Marine Terminal. following the Delaware River Heritage Trail from the Old Trenton Wharf.
Trenton Walks is gearing up for more than 12 miles of great walks over five events through early July, and more are in the planning. The walk today hosted by County Executive Dan Benson was a fantastic success. To see some of the updates coming to one of our most busiest streets in Trenton was exciting to see. Can’t wait to see the future of South Broad street.

We got to see some promising areas and some that have been marred by stagnation but to listen to the vision of the county commissioner brought some positive expectations for the future.

Join Trenton Walks! this Sunday for an event featuring South Broad Streetscape Improvements

Join us this Sunday, March 29, at 1 p.m., when Mercer County Executive Dan Benson will share exciting plans to create a welcoming and connected streetscape in the South Broad Street area that brings people together, supports local businesses and capitalizes on civic and cultural spaces. His revitalization plans will also improve the pedestrian and cycling experience. Planned stops on the 2.1-mile walk include the Eagle Tavern, Clinton & Roebling Lofts, Millyard Park and Casa Cultura.

Attendees will meet at the main entrance of the Mercer County Administration Building, 640 S. Broad Street. Plenty of free parking is available in the county lot off South Broad Street for those who drive to the event. The meeting place is also accessible by public transit.

Since June of 2024, we have completed 67 Walks! with 845 participants covering a total of 1,897 person-miles (which is the distance from Trenton to Key West, FL plus the distance from Trenton to Bangor, ME). Less than 100 miles to the Canadian border!
