We thank the invitation from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York of the Republic of China (ROC) regime. However, being quality human beings and particularly decent Taiwanese, we regrettably have to turn down the ROC National Day Reception invitation and oppose using Taiwanese resources to hold ROC National Day celebrations.
As the occupation power of Taiwan mandated by the Allies back in 1945, the Chinese Nationalist ROC regime seeking territory expansion has deeply hurt Taiwanese with the 228 massacre and more than four decades of White Terror colonization ruling. If the ROC regime and its offices were truly devoted to the repentance, remedy and justice for Taiwanese, stop using Taiwanese resources for ROC National Day, stop spreading lies to lock Taiwanese people into the ROC political cage, and take the mandate responsibility to faithfully assist and guide Taiwanese to self-determination, then thus independence.
