New Jersey Poetry Out Loud

New Jersey Poetry Out Loud NJPOL is a project of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, in collaboration with Count Basie Center for the Arts and other local partners.

We encourage high school students to learn about great works of poetry through memorization and recitation. Poetry, as an oral art form, is experiencing a dynamic resurgence that is capturing the imagination of hundreds of thousands of students across the nation. Here, in New Jersey, Poetry Out Loud is creating a rich educational landscape that celebrates the "universal appeal of verse." Designed

to engage the creative imaginations of all high school students, New Jersey Poetry Loud aims to work with each high school across the state's 21 counties. Poetry Out Loud is a free national program sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation. Poetry Out Loud encourages the nation's youth to learn about great property through memorization and performance. This exciting program is now in its ninth year in New Jersey.
