Day #1
After 26 hours of travel, our group arrived in Skardu and reached our hotel around noon. Following a quick breakfast and a brief opportunity to rest, we visited Dar Ul Shifa Hospital, where our team member, Dr. Parvez Malik, would spend the week performing surgeries and providing specialized care to patients in the region. Touring the hospital offered valuable insight into the healthcare needs of the local community and the impact our team hoped to make.

Later that day, we visited an all-girls orphanage, where we had the privilege of distributing stuffed animals and soccer balls to each of the children. Their joy and gratitude served as a meaningful reminder of how even small acts of kindness can leave a lasting impression. We also supported the orphanage by purchasing handmade paintings, shawls, and other crafts created by the girls, helping to recognize and encourage their creativity and hard work.

After a rewarding first day, we shared dinner at Bzangmo’s Restaurant before returning to the hotel. We ended the evening by carefully organizing our medical supplies in preparation for the busy days ahead. As our first day came to a close, we felt both grateful for the warm welcome we had received and inspired by the opportunity to serve the people of Skardu in the days to come.

The Rahbar Trust, a non-profit organization committed to delivering humanitarian aid and support, conducted a relief mission to Skardu, a region in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan, from June 28 to July 4, 2026.
The mission was carried out by a dedicated team of 18 volunteers. This diverse group included high schoolers, medical school students, relief workers , and seven experienced doctors, all united by a common goal: to provide essential aid and relief to the locals.

The team established medical camps in various areas of Skardu to ensure widespread access to healthcare services. These locations included:
Skardu City, Oro Qumra, Upper and Lower Kachura Lake Area
Khaplu and Naru Village.

At these camps, the volunteers provided a range of medical services such as Treatments for common illnesses, First aid and addressing health concerns of the community.
The relief trip not only aimed to address immediate health concerns but also to offer crucial support to the communities by promoting better health practices and providing education on managing day-to-day ailments and distributing humanitarian relief supplies and toys to the younger population.
This year, the Rahbar Trust was honored to undertake the significant task of performing the first-ever plastic surgery in Skardu. This groundbreaking procedure was conducted by our esteemed team member, Dr. Pervaiz Malik, a world-renowned plastic surgeon.
