NW Regional Envirothon

NW Regional Envirothon The Envirothon is a hands-on, problem solving, natural resource education program for high school students, grades 9-12.

Each Envirothon team, consisting of 5 students, are challenged to hone critical thinking skills and work together in order to compete at outdoor stations that test their knowledge on aquatic ecology, soils/land use, forestry, wildlife and current environmental issue. In addition to these written tests, an oral component is in place where students present their solution to the problem given to them

concerning the current issue topic for the year. The top 3 scoring teams of each of the 7 Regions will advance to State Competition. The NW Regional area encompasses the following 17 counties: Atchison, Holt, Nodaway, Andrew, Buchanan, Worth, Gentry, DeKalb, Clinton, Harrison, Daviess, Caldwell, Ray, Mercer, Grundy, Livingston and Carroll.

I am on the Farewell Northwest Tour! Many changes are hitting the Regional areas. Northwest and Northeast have been combined into “North”. Sadly we have lost our longest standing school, they have been moved to another region (I tried very hard to get that decision reversed, but no luck). We have 3 teams represented by Norborne & South Nodaway schools that will represent Northwest for the very last time at State Competition May 1st.

Best wishes to our NW teams at State. We are so proud of you 😊

I have been blessed to work with our Northwest Schools since 2009! We have amazing students & teachers! Thank you for being our teams.
