The MPFFU is saddened to report the passing of recently retired member Bryan Fethke, who passed away unexpectedly just 2 days after his retirement. From Local 4132:

Bryan dedicated more than three decades to the Muskegon Township Fire Department, joining the department in 1994 and retiring as Captain on June 1, 2026. Throughout his distinguished career, he was a founding member of the county’s Urban Search and Rescue and Technical Rescue Team. He also served for many years on the executive board of Muskegon Township Professional Fire Fighters Union IAFF Local 4132, including as President. His commitment to protecting and serving others earned him the respect and admiration of his fellow firefighters and the community. Bryan was passionate about training and mentoring new firefighters and instilling firehouse culture and traditions both at MTFD and across all of Muskegon County, spending many years as an instructor at the Muskegon County Fire Academy.

Bryan will be remembered for his dedication, strength, loyalty, and love for his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Michigan Professional Fire Fighters from around the state met in Lansing to advocate for our priorities. Over 25 of our locals were represented and held over 80 meetings with legislators. Some of those priorities we were able to present:
-staffing
-military leave
-PTSD presumption
-budget ask
-hours worked

Advocating to make it better for the career firefighters of Michigan and enhancing the fire protection to the residents we serve. Thank you to all the legislators that took time to meet.
