Just as they were set to take effect, federal officials are delaying new requirements meant to make healthcare more accessible to people with disabilities and signaling that additional changes are likely.

A new report finds that soon, millions of New Jersey homes and a third of the state's public infrastructure could be underwater with every major storm.

Essential services for individuals with disabilities across New Jersey at risk!

The Governor’s proposed budget for FY 2027 eliminates $3 million for all of New Jersey's Centers for Independent Living (CILs).

Without restoration, CILs across New Jersey will be forced to reduce or eliminate services, including skills training, employment supports, transition services, community socialization activities, food pantries, and assistance accessing essential resources, resulting in increased demand for more expensive state services.

We encourage you to contact the leadership in the state legislature and let them know about the vital services NJ CIL's provide. Urge them to restore the money in the state's budget.

They want to hear from you!

Some of us have been going to the Abilities Expo for well over a decade. First time a U.S. Senator was in attendance as far as we know. Grateful to Senator Andy Kim for caring enough to show up and listen. He visited the New Jersey SILC booth and to discuss the issues most impacting disabled people in NJ.

Thank you Senator Andy Kim for visiting the NJ Statewide Independent Living Council booth at the Abilities Expo today!

‼️ Last Friday, April 2, the White House released the President’s proposed Budget for Fiscal Year 2027.

It proposes $15.8 Billion in reductions to Health and Human Services (HHS), including significant funding cuts to key agencies for the rare disease community, and an increase to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This budget is by no means final. Congress views the President's budget as a starting point for the budget process, but often chooses to draft based on Congressional priorities instead.

While there is still much we will learn and distill over the coming days and weeks as negotiations on the Hill evolve, we wanted to take this opportunity to provide an overview of the significance of the release of the President’s Budget Proposal and the process that comes next. To read the full post, please visit our website ➡️ https://everylifefoundation.org/the-presidents-budget-proposal-what-does-it-mean-for-our-rare-disease-community/

Our EveryLife Foundation team is here with you. We will keep you updated as new developments are shared, hearings are posted, and key opportunities arise to ensure that the funding priorities of our community are heard on the Hill.
