It was a rainy but fruitful day. Today we partner with Parker intermediate school garden Club and the Outdoor Equity Alliance (OEA) to bring community , nonprofit , and schools clubs together work towards a better future of our neighborhood. Parker school garden club with help of the OEA has been incubating seeds for us since the beginning of spring and today was planting day at the TSWNA community garden.

Happy Memorial Day, South Ward. We hope everyone is having a fun and safe holiday. On Saturday, May 25, we had our annual community cookout at our beautiful community garden. In Partnership with the Trenton Community Street Team, Thank you to Jason and Perry Shaw. On Sunday, May 26, we partnered with Princeton Hydro to prepare the garden for 500 native plants funded by Xerces Society. We are highly excited about the new plans for our garden. Thank you to all our board members, South Ward Councilwoman Jenna Figueroa Kittenburg and Councilwoman Crystal Feliciano. If you're looking for a meaningful volunteer opportunity, this is your chance to contribute to the community and bring beauty to the environment. Join us on Sunday, May 26th at 12PM, for prep work and then on Saturday, June 1st at 9AM, to plant native flowers and shrubs provided by The Xerces Society.

It has been a busy month for us. Over the past few weeks we partnered with Parker Elementary School and Jefferson Intermediate School. To jump start our in home libraries in partnership with BookSmiles. Our aim is to increase access to quality books and reading opportunities in the city of Trenton.

The 2019 Trenton Kids Count report revealed a disheartening fact - only 40% of children eligible for preschool or daycare were actually enrolled. This means that a significant number of preschoolers in Trenton are missing out on early learning opportunities during a critical developmental period. Early exposure to reading tools can make a profound and lasting impact on a child's learning journey, setting the foundation for success in the long-term. In fact, research has shown that children who read at grade-level by the end of third grade are more likely to graduate high school and pursue higher education. By providing books to our students, we can ignite a passion for reading that extends beyond the classroom and into their homes, bringing joy and opportunities for growth to families across Trenton.

This morning I did a little bit of spring cleaning at The South Trenton Neighborhood Association garden getting it ready for this upcoming programs for the community , also E and P resources LLC Owner Ed Hill a long time South Trenton resident given us a bid for our new fence. We're going to beautified our neighborhood with positivity, vegetables and beautiful flowers.
