🚨 BREAKING NEWS 🚨
The Honoring Our Fallen Heroes Act has officially passed the U.S. Senate, marking a significant step forward in supporting the families of our nation’s fallen and disabled first responders.

This critical legislation recognizes the devastating impact of occupational cancer and ensures that surviving families are not left behind after a lifetime of service and sacrifice.

The New Jersey State Volunteer Firemen’s Association proudly joins the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) in applauding the bipartisan leadership of Senators Amy Klobuchar and Kevin Cramer, along with Representatives Mike Scanlon and Carlos Gimenez, for advancing this vital measure.

Volunteer firefighters and EMS providers put their lives on the line every day. This bill helps honor that service by providing meaningful support to the families who bear the cost long after the alarm stops ringing.

BREAKING NEWS!

The U.S. Senate has passed the National Defense Authorization Act by a 77–20 vote, including the Honoring Our Fallen Heroes Act, an NVFC legislative priority.

This bipartisan legislation expands eligibility for Public Safety Officers’ Benefits to include firefighters and other public safety officers who are killed or permanently disabled by certain job-related cancers. It also applies retroactively to eligible cases dating back to January 1, 2020.

Volunteer firefighters face increased cancer risks due to their service. This bill is a major step forward in ensuring their families receive the support and benefits they deserve.

We look forward to the President signing this bill into law.

As Crash Responder Safety Week begins, we stand proudly with our brothers and sisters across New Jersey including firefighters, EMS, police, towing and recovery, public works, and transportation crews who put themselves in harm’s way every day on our roadways.

This week reminds us why we train, why we serve, and why every responder deserves to go home safely. We honor those we’ve lost, support those still serving, and remind every driver in New Jersey to slow down, move over, and remember that safety truly starts with all of us.

🔥 FIRE SERVICE TRAINING AVAILABLE 🔥

Calling all NJ volunteer firefighters, we’re bringing fire service training directly to YOU.

The New Jersey State Volunteer Firemen's Association, in partnership with the National Volunteer Fire Council, is now offering leadership and culture development courses built specifically for the volunteer fire service.

These NVFC programs include leadership, firefighter health, recruitment & retention, safety officer training, cancer prevention, and a full series of hazmat instructor modules.

This is how we build better firehouses, better officers, and stronger crews. If you want training brought to your department or region, we can deliver it.
