September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month. 💜🩵
It has been just over a year since we lost Spencer’s dad to su***de.
This past year has held so many emotions—grief, sadness, anger, questions, guilt, love, memories, and moments when the loss still doesn’t feel completely real.
Losing someone to su***de carries a different kind of grief. There are so many unanswered questions. So many “what ifs” and “if onlys.” Families are left not only missing someone they love, but often trying to make sense of something that may never fully make sense.
At Crossing Arrows Ranch, su***de prevention and supporting those affected by su***de loss are deeply personal to us. We know that behind every statistic is a person—and behind that person are families, friends, and communities whose lives are forever changed.
This September, we want to remind people that conversations about su***de matter. Checking on someone matters. Listening without judgment matters. Asking directly if someone is thinking about su***de does not put the idea in their head—it can open the door for someone who desperately needs to know they are not alone.
And for those who have lost someone to su***de: your grief does not have a timeline. A year does not make the loss disappear. You are allowed to remember them, love them, miss them, be angry, laugh at the good memories, and grieve in whatever way you need to.
This month, we remember Spencer’s dad and every life lost to su***de. We hold close the families who continue carrying their love and their loss. And we continue doing what we can to create a place where people can come exactly as they are and find connection, hope, and healing. 💜
If you or someone you know is struggling or experiencing a suicidal crisis, call or text 988 to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.
